Hearing Ted Kennedy Jr talk about his father at the JFK Library was inspiring. He recounted his childhood days, when he was stricken with cancer in the leg, and had to have it amputated. His dad stayed with him in the while he was in the hospital. When he told of the story about he his dad bought him a sled, and said 'we are going to go up the hill' and Ted Jr said he couldn't do it, and his father said, 'yes you can, even if it takes all day, you will make it up the hill'. And lo and behold, he did make up to the top of the hill.
They were other memories that his son had told about his younger days with his dad. Some of it was funny, and some of it a bit serious. It all hit home, after hearing Teddy Jr speak about a dad that he really loved, and of a man who loved is entire family, and his country.
We all, or I hope we all learned a lesson in life, and if we did, then we will all be the better of it.
